Film poster analysis.

Blade Runner

The iconography from the poster suggest that this film is about space because of the spaceship and the galaxy as the backdrop also the male protagonist is holding a laser gun this connotes there'll be a rivalry the two characters on the poster must defeat with or without each other. The female character is shown as this seductive and manipulative type. She is smoking a cigarette and staring straight towards the camera with a firm facial expression to connote her mystery in this film. The directors have intentionally done this because it attracts the male audience as mostly men would be into these types of action/sc-fi movie/ this would be known as a film- noir. The using of dark colours suggest the action and the unknown which may occur in the film. The story line might be about a major altercation which the protagonist must stop before it distrusts the 'normal' setting. The tagline 'man has made his match...now its his problem' enforces the idea that the female character and male character have some sort of sexual relationship which turns ugly and determines the fate of the world.

This film would contain a hybrid genre because from the iconography from the poster it suggest a mixture of sci-fi, action and thriller.

The target audience for this film would men from the ages of 16-28 who are into science fiction movies and action. The demographic is like this because it would a have cult film following as their fans are more into those films.

Scary movie 2

The iconography from scary movie 2 poster suggests it a horror movie with comedic attitudes. This is because the critic above the 7 characters reads 'Absolutely Hilarious' from this is enforces the comedic aspect of the film as it connotes more a parody horror film. The facial expression of the characters denotes they're feeling spooked but aren't horrified. This film poster use intertextuality  to promote the movie as the two women on the first row have shirts that have lines from famous horror movies such as 'i love dead people' which is a knock off  from the 1999 classic Sixth sense 'I see dead people'. Another one is 'What lies beneath' the other female character is wearing which connotes the sexualisation to promote the movie but its from the classic thriller 2000 what lies beneath. All the characters body language on the poster suggest a mockery type film. The story line could be that all characters must escape from the knock off horror monsters.
This film would contain a hybrid genre of horror and comedy. This is because of the characters on the poster and the parody like horror look.
The target audience for this film would be young adults are both into comedy and horror movies.
