Mise-en-scene blog task

) Find a distinctive still image and write an analysis of the mise-en-scene. Use each of the aspects you've learned in the lesson.

The mise-en-scene from this image is from Jurassic Park. The make-up on the actors suggest they've been in a scuffle. The type of shot is a medium shot of all the actors in the frame this conveys the idea of suspense as the protagonist in in-front of the other character so show this bravery and the director want the audience to sympathise wit the protagonist as he is risking his life. The body language of the other charters look  terrified which sets the mood of tension. Their facial expression is that of scared. The lighting is directed towards the characters and is only positioned to focus on them and is well lit on the side of their face which is used by filler lighting. The setting those characters and placed is where the smaller animals are kept.

The mise-en-scene from this image suggests the lightning in this picture is setting a sombre mood as the three subjects stand in contrast to each others body language. The costumes of these actors are very simplistic as its normal workplace attire yet has elements of mystery as the colours are very monotone and connotes the actors work in some sort of average work but their body language suggests some secrecy. The actors placement is very important as the preferred reading suggest the female subject has authority and us very firm with her look and stance which subverts the normal placement of women in drama/mystery genres. Also the two male subjects at the back suggest some sort if conflict but is respected. The makeup of the three actors is very toned down this could connote the producers wants the audience to build a character likeliness or not. The setting of this still image is set in a elevator and the lightning signifies that the three of them play a major part in the show/movie.


The mise-en-scene from this scene shows the actors body language very different from each other. The character on the three characters on the right seemed to lured into the conversation the potential protagonist is having this is connoted from their facial expression as it is concerned also the actors body language suggests openness. Whereas, the actor on the left is very guarded and focused on something else. The prop used in this image suggests the phone plays a certain part in the film as it could connote lies, scandal and major miscommunication. The makeup for these actors is very important as it's all similar this could suggest they all lookup to eachother, have peculiar standards for eachother. The lightning for this image is well lit this could suggest the directors of this film wanted to expose their beauty to signify that is probably the only thing they care about. The genre for this could be teenage drama.

Deutschland 83: case study blog tasks

Introduction: Reviews and features 1) Find one positive aspect and one criticism of  Deutschland 83  in reviews. The one positive review would that it was the most viewed and like language drama. This is because the drama is rounded upon the dark humour of Martin. However, a criticism would be that it is morally composed.  2) Why does the second Guardian article suggest the Germans didn't like the show?
