1) Still image analysis
1. This image fits high key lighting. This image decits back lighting this is because the light is coming from the male actors left side of his face. The effected created in this image show the potential couple looking anxious but confiding in each other the lightning suggests the tone is very confusing.

This image fits high key lighting as the actor us very fit and we can see her facial expression. This image depicts top lighting as the actor is very well positioned to seem firm and collective. The effects of using type of lighting suggests that protagonist is very powerful and is the centre of attention. Everything lit up suggests the influence the actor and creates a sinister vibe to some extent.
This still image fits low key lighting because the protagonist isn't well lit and sense a poor working environment. This image depicts under lighting because the only source of light is from the broken light above him also the light has been positioned in a way in which we only see half of his face. The effect this has on an audiences suggest the protagonist in in trouble but to some the positioning of camera from below suggests his power and superiority. This creates a dark atmosphere full of tension.
2) Film noir research
The film noir here is a cinematic style used mostly in crime films as it used the 'cynical heroes and dark lightning'.
The golden age for film noir would be between the 1940s to 1950s.
The lightning used for typical film noirs would be low-key lightning this it wanted to show the actors in a bold and sinister way. This is because most characters in a film noir resembled the fears and tension that came with post modern world war two.
The genre has been debated as some critics believe film noir could be seen as a sub-genre rather than a genre. This is because film noir isn't a conventional film as it can be included into many aspects if film such as mystery, westerns and even comedy to some extent.
The classic film noir film would be 'The Maltese falcon', ' This gun for hire', ' murder my sweet'.
3) Film noir YouTube clip analysis
Finally, find a YouTube clip that fits the film noir genre and embed it under your research (the clip can be classic noir from the 1950s or something more recent - neo-noir). How does the clip's lighting fit the film noir genre?
The film I used that's fits the classic film noir genre is called 'In a lonely place' (1950) and directed by Nicholas Ray. The clip was filmed in black and white. The lighting from this clip contained low key lighting to create a sister vibe to it. It's fits the genre because it's about a murder about a girl who lived next door being investigated and
Dixons starts being questioned about his involvement as he'd met this woman some back back but his new love interest (Gloria) suspects him. This lighting used in each scene is very toned down and dark with only the protagonist in some clear viewing.
